William Ruane

William joined EPA in September 2016 after work experience in high school gave him an insight into the role of the structural engineer. William is currently studying part time at Chelmsford College on a BTEC Level 3 Construction & Built Environment Course whilst gaining invaluable ‘hands-on’ experience in the office environment under the supervision of Edward, Ian & Tom. Will hopes to continue his studies to become a fully qualified structural engineer and an integral part of the engineering team at EPA.

Emily Harris BSc (Hons) ACIATEmily

Emily has worked for EPA since June 2016 following a house move to the area. Emily achieved a first-class BSc Hons degree in Architectural Technology in 2014 and has experience in the residential, commercial and education sector with a large array of projects ranging from a university campus remodelling project to a small shop front refurbishment in a conservation area. Emily has a passion for contemporary and bespoke design and applies this to individual client needs and projects.

Caroline Mundy-GillCaroline

Administration Assistant

Caroline joined EPA in February 2017 on a part time basis to job-share with Diane. Caroline also takes on the daily administration tasks to ensure the smooth running of the office, credit control and helps organise social events.

Ted & GracieTed & G

Ted & Gracie joined EPA in 2012 as 8 week old puppies and as you can see have now grown to be rather large and hairy. Despite their size they have the perfect temperament to bring a sense of calm to the hectic life in the office. Although Ted gives the odd bark he is more of a big Teddy Bear than a Grizzly bear & both him & Gracie cannot wait to meet & greet you (usually with a soft toy) when visiting the offices. All they ask is for a pat on the head and you will have two friends for life.

Founding director of EPA, established in 1990, Edward has been the driving force behind the success of the business embedding his belief for sustainable structural design into the company’s core. Edward focuses on making sure the structural designs at EPA are sensible and not over engineered minimising construction costs. Edward has led the structural design on many complex designs such as the straw bale auction rooms, the largest straw bale construction in Europe at the time. With Edward’s 50 years of experience in structural engineering a broad knowledge in the use of timber in structural design has led to EPA being involved in the renovation of many timber framed listed buildings and many barn conversions. As well as historical buildings Edward also produces cost saving designs for modern day timber framed buildings where contemporary structures can be designed and built in a traditional form.

Ian has worked with Edward Parsley for the last 40 years where he embodies the same principles for simple and sustainable structural design. Ian has managed the structural design on many of the larger projects and deals with most of the Drainage and Highways design. As well as engineering the designs for the larger projects Ian has designed the more complex structures where demand for minimal structure and high levels of Architecture have resulted in some innovative designs. Ian also deals with party wall awards, drainage diversions, highways adoptions and other civil engineering issues that arise.

David studied Architecture at Anglia Ruskin University and obtained an upper second-class BSc Hons degree in Architectural Technology. In 2017 David obtained his chartership with the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists and is now an MCIAT member. David joined EPA in 2004 and has been the driving force behind the Architectural side of the business where he now leads the growing architectural team. David has a love for contemporary, high-end design as well as historic buildings so relishes projects that involve both these forms. David has fronted the designs for many of EPA’s projects including open countryside one off houses, extensions to listed buildings, housing developments and conversion projects where his attention to detail and passion for design is seen throughout his work.
